Spartans Among Finishers at NCAA Championship
BUFFALO, N.Y. - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams each competed in the 2007 NCAA II Swimming and Diving Championships as each placed among the top 20 teams in the nation.
The women's team, which sent a total of nine individuals, finished 12th overall with 99 points. The men, with two individuals, finished 19th with 39 total points. Jessie Bardin was the lone Spartan to claim a national championship as she won the 200 Freestyle.
In the final day, Megan Garland placed 17th in the 1,650 Free with a time of 18:28.65. Bardin also placed 15th in the100 Free with a time of 52.86. Teammate Jennifer Jenkins also competed, finishing 16th in the 200 Back at 2:10.01.
Freshman Tyler Furrer was the lone Spartan male to compete on the final day as he placed fifth in the 1,650 Free after a time of 15:45.96.
The UT women's 400 Free Relay team also swam to an 11th place finish with a time of 3:34.27. Bardin, Alexandra Colley, Meghann Mulbarger and Madison Flake were all part of the relay team.
