Tampa Concludes Second Day of Spartan Invite
Senior Jeremy Parker set the new school record in the 200 yard freestyle in day two of the Spartan Invitational.
CLEARWATER, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming programs concluded the second day of the Spartan Invitational at the Long Center by completing 14 total events.
Tampa claimed the top times in two events while Florida Southern College dominated the field with nine total top finishes. Lynn University claimed the remaining three events.
The No. 11 Spartans men's team won the second event of the finals, claiming the 200 yard medley relay behind the combined efforts of Jordan Augier, Wayne Denswil, Runar Borgen and Martin Hammer. The quad finished with a 1:27.50 time, a NCAA Division II provisional time and 0.05 seconds shy of the school record in the event.
Senior Jeremy Parker set a new program record in the 200 yard freestyle with a 1:37.84 finish in the finals heat. The top time is a "B" cut standard in Division II and a personal best for Parker, who held the previous record of 1:37.91.
The No. 15 women's team was unable to record a top finish as FSC and Lynn claimed the top times of the competition.
UT will conclude the first annual Spartan Invitational on Sunday with preliminary heats beginning at 9:30 a.m. with the final events starting at 6 p.m.
