UT Swimmers Third at Spartan Invite
Spartans set three school records in four-day event.
CLEARWATER, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams each finished third at the annual Spartan Invite, with a combined second-place finish for the Spartans. UT also set three new school records in the four-day event.

Men Final: Indian River 918, Nova Southeastern 909, Tampa 740, Florida Southern 592, Saint Leo 541.5
Women Final: Rice 1,134, Nova Southeastern 861.5, Tampa 761.5, Indian River 366, Florida Southern 340, Saint Leo 245

RECORD PERFORMANCES:
- UT's women secured a new school record in the 400 Medley Relay with a time of 3:47.35. The record-setting team was made up of Hana van Loock, McKenzie Street, Sophie Long and Gabbie Gaunt.
- van Loock broke UT's longest-standing school record with a time of 50.25 in the 100 Free. She also won the race over all competitors.
- The Spartans also notched a record in the 400 Free Relay with a time of 3:22.67. The team included van Loock, Long, Katie Bayes and Megan Waddell.
TOP PERFORMERS:
- The Spartan women were third in the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:33.19 from Waddell, van Loock, Molly O'Hara and Gaunt.
- Cameron Newton was third in the 200 IM as he was timed at 1:49.94. He also placed third in the 200 Free after being clocked at 1:38.74.
- A pair of Spartans finished in the top three in the women's 50 Free as Gaunt was second at 23.18 and Waddell third at 23.41.
- Brett Saunders was second in the men's 400 IM with a time of 3:52.50. He was also third in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:00.95.

Tampa returns home from break at home against Indian River State College on Friday, January 5 at 3 p.m., at the UT Aquatics Center.
