Santiago Corredor Wins National Championship as Spartans Men Fourth Through Three Days

INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams finished day three of the NCAA Swimming Championships as Santiago Corredor became the first national champion of the meet for the Spartans.
Men's Standings: Tampa, 4th (167 points)
Men's Leader: Indianapolis (254.5 points)
Women's Standings: Tampa, 17th (40 points)
Women's Leader: Nova Southeastern (300.5 points)
Spartan Highlights (Men)
- Santiago Corredor broke his own school record and won the national championship with a 3:45.30 in the 400 IM. Corredor was joined by teammate Hayden Curley on the podium as Curley was fifth with a time of 3:48.46.
- Corredor became the first individual national champion for the Spartans since Alex Hetland won the 100 Breast in 2009. He is the 12th individual national champion in program history, joining head coach Jimi Kiner as a national champ.
- UT had its third All-American of the evening as Santiago Aguilera was sixth in the 200 Free with a time of 1:36.17. Barnabas Fluck was 13th in the event while Parker Knollman came in 16th.
- In the final event of day three, UT was 11th in the 400 Medley Relay. A time of 3:14.06 came from Knollman, Jared Mindek, Tibor Tistan and Caleb Brandon.
Spartan Highlights (Women)
- The Spartans were 15th in the 400 Medley Relay with a time of 3:46.64. Earning honorable mention All-American honors were Kim McCaffrey, Alli McFarland, Madysen Barnes and Tilde Morin.
