Santiago Corredor Leads Spartans at Sharks Invite

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The No. 5 University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams both took home wins to start the 2023-24 season. The men tallied a total of 924 points, with the next closest team, Florida Southern, earning 512 points. The women led the eight-team field with 919.5 points, a 210-point lead over second-place Nova Southeastern.
TOP PERFORMERS (MEN)
- Santiago Corredor, Richy Polasek, Adrian Aguilar, and Blake Moran claimed the top spot in the 400 Medley Relay with a time of 3:14.24.
- Barnabas Fluck finished first in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 4:33.58.
- Parker Knollman led the pack in the 100 Backstroke, finishing with a time of 48.84.
- Polasek was the runner-up in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 55.10.
- Corredor placed first in the 200 Butterfly with a time of 1:48.18.
- Moran went for the top spot in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 44.44.
- Corredor took the top spot for the third time of the day in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 1:46.08.
- Polasek placed second in the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:01.65.
- Ian Cooper, Tibor Tistan, Aguilar, and Moran placed first in the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:20.17.
- Corredor would conclude the two-day event as the Swimmer of the Meet, totaling the most points of any individual.
TOP PERFORMERS (WOMEN)
- Sidni Meister, Katie Ramsey, Isabelle Sering, and Tilde Morin placed first in the 400 Medley Relay with a time of 3:46.64.
- Laura Hodgson was the runner-up in the 500 Freestyle, finishing with a time of 5:00.70.
- Kim McCaffrey was the top finisher in the 100 Backstroke at a time of 56.68.
- Morin finished first in the 100 Breaststroke with a time 1:05.29.
- Madysen Barnes placed second in the 200 Butterfly with a time of 2:04.12
- Morin placed first for the third time of the day in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 51.91.
- McCaffrey earned first place in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:03.26.
- Cameron Dukat placed first in the 200 Breaststroke, finishing at 2:20.45.
- Sering, Roma Vrijhof, Meister and Morin took the top spot in the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:34.85.
