Spartans Finish Among Top Performers at UT Early Bird Classic

Dover, Fla. - The University of Tampa cross country team entertained Division I University of Florida and the University of South Florida in the UT Early Bird Classic at the Sydney Dover Trail Park. The Spartans finished fourth in the men's race and second in the women's meet.

The men's race was won by the University of Florida, followed by Florida Southern, USF and Tampa. The other teams were Warner Southern, Webber, Saint Leo and Rollins. Florida took the top four races as Tampa's David Forry was the first Spartan to cross the finish line with an eighth place finish and a time of 21:01.

Florida also won the women's race as Tampa finished second. Florida Southern took third as USF was fourth in the eight-team field. Florida Southern's Jael Koech finished first while Tampa's Laura Woznicki led all Spartans with a third-place finish after a time of 18:42. Tampa freshman Paige Williams turned in a ninth-place finish while running the 5K in 19:30.
