Tampa Women Claim Florida Tech Invitational Title
MELBOURNE, Fla. - The University of Tampa women's cross country team won its second straight race, taking top honors at the Florida Tech Invitational. The Spartan men also competed, placing second overall behind Embry-Riddle.
Sophomore Jess Butler finished second overall in the women's race with a time of 18:23.33. The dash to the finish line began with a bevy of Tampa runners as eight Spartans finished in the top 10. Dara Fox was third while Heather Nicolosi was fifth. Paige Williams, Alysha Duffy, Sarah Nelson, Kaia Hampton and Michelle Gabrielle rounded out the top 10.
Chris Catanach was UT's top runner as the senior finished seventh with a time of 26:33.22. Charles Toledo and Lewis Price were the next Spartans to cross the finish line, placing 11th and 12th respectively. Greg Moore (16th) and Mike Leone (18th) rounded out the top five for the Spartans.
Tampa returns to action on Friday when it travels to Gainesville for the Mountain Dew Invitational. The University of Florida will serve as the host.
