Spartans Remain Perfect with a Pair of Victories

TAMPA, FLA.- The University of Tampa softball team recorded a pair of victories over Palm Beach Atlantic by scores of 3-1 and 3-2. The Spartans improve to 4-0 while the Sailfish fall to 3-7.
In game one, the Spartans were led by Kyrstal Crooks, who connected for two hits and an RBI. Michelle Horan, Ashley Arcuri and Samantha Becker each recorded a hit in the game as well. Heather VanLandingham pitched seven innings for the Spartans, striking out five while allowing one run on three hits.
In game two, Arcuri led the Spartans with four hits and two RBI. Arcuri came through for the Spartans in the bottom of the seventh with the scored tied 2-2 and runners on first and second as Arcuri singled to right field, bringing home Casey Barnes for the win. Freshman standout Deanna Henriott pitched a complete game as well, striking out nine while allowing two runs on six hits to improve her record to 3-0.
The Spartans are back in action on February 16 and 17 at Valdosta State as they play a pair of games against host Valdosta State and West Florida.
