Miner No Hitter Secures Friday Split for Tampa
Miner added two home runs to her no-hitter to lead the way in the victory
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The University of Tampa softball team traveled to St. Augustine, Fla. to participate in the Flagler Tournament hosted by Flagler College on Friday afternoon. The Spartans opened the weekend against the host Flagler Saints before squaring off in the evening against the Georgia Southwestern University Hurricanes.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Bottom 4th Inning: The Saints opened the scoring with a solo home run to left-center field by Mackenzie Conley.
Bottom 5th Inning: Maddy Murphy hit a hard single that ricocheted of Dooley's foot and came to a stop in the infield that allowed Morgan Murphy and Genevieve Mangini to score. Flagler added two more runs as Alli-Ann Bigale doubled to left center that brought two runners in safely.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Dooley added six more strikeouts to her season total, bringing it up to 20 on the year

HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st Inning: It did not take long for Tampa to open the scoring. After Sahrina Cortes singled to open the game and advance to second on a stolen base, Bre Setree sent a two-run home run flying past the fence in center field to give UT the 2-0 lead.
3rd Inning: The Spartans went back to the long ball as Miner helped out her own cause, sending a three run home run to the same spot as Setree, this time with the scoreboard taking the hit, as she brought in Breanna Taphouse who was in as a pinch runner for Taylor Farrell (who had doubled down the left field line and Setree (who had drawn a walk) to give Tampa the 5-0 lead.
7th Inning: The UT offense was not done for the night as Setree once again reached base safely, this time a single to left field. Miner added the finishing touches to her night at the plate as she sent a second ball past the fence and over the scoreboard to give her team the 7-0 lead.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- The Spartans drew four walks on the evening.
- Tampa tagged Childs for five runs and relief pitcher Sikes for the final two.
- The Hurricanes left four runners on base, all of them reaching without recording a hit.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- For the fourth time in five games, Tampa scored first in the game.
- These were the first three home runs of the season for UT
