Eagles Take Opening Game in Extra Innings over Spartans
Dooley held the Eagles off the board until the ninth inning but the Tampa offense was unable to back her up
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa softball team hosted the Embry-Riddle Eagles for a three-game series between the 2nd and 3rd place team in the Sunshine State standings. The opening game on Friday night went the way of the visitors despite a very strong outing from Makaleigh Dooley in the circle for the Spartans.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Top 9th: The Eagles broke the deadlock as they scored three times in the inning to make the difference.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Dooley had 12 strikeouts in the game, two short of her career high.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- A stolen base by Mackenzie Allen in the bottom of the 7th inning snapped a seven-game streak with no stolen bases for Tampa.
UP NEXT:
The series will wrap up with a doubleheader tomorrow afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
