Spartans Defeated in Rain-Shortened Game
The University of Tampa fell to Rollins on Friday night because of weather.

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa softball team fell to Rollins College as the field was deemed un-playable after a lengthy delay.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

All-Time Series: Tampa leads 63-49, but UT has dropped the last three meetings against the Tars.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
TOP 2nd: Lexie Chevalier led off the second inning for Tampa, and the freshman belted her second home run of the season to give Tampa an early lead. The most home runs by a freshman since Corynn Miner (4) in 2017.
BOT 3rd: The Tars led off the inning with a base hit through the left side and added another base runner on a bunt single. Ashley Worrell, the sister of Sam Worrell, plated two runs on a double to deep left center field.
BOT 4th: Rollins' designated player Grace Street began the inning with a solo homer, the first of the season. The senior from Freedom HS has totaled 11 home runs in her four-year career.
BOT 5th: Following a brief weather delay, Worrell hit a solo home run to give Rollins a three-run lead. The freshman from Oviedo has hit two home runs in 12 games played.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- The Spartans had the bases loaded with no outs when the game was called.
- Between the two teams, five runs were scored on three home runs.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- The Spartans have dropped consecutive games for the first time this season.
UP NEXT: The University of Tampa will complete the weekend series against Rollins College on Saturday afternoon, as the double-header is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
