Spartans Split Double Header with Tars

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa softball team went up against SSC foe, the Rollins College Tars at home for the last regular season series of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED GAME ONE:

Bottom 4^th

The game would remain scoreless after great pitching and defensive play from both teams. The Spartans would threaten with a runner at third but would fail to bring the runner home. Through four innings the teams would combine for a total three hits. | Tied 0-0

Top 6^th

The Tars would break the scoreless deadlock after Moore scored from third off of a fielder's choice. | Rollins 1-0

Bottom 7^th

Tampa would fail to score and an eight-game winning streak would come to an end. | Rollins 1-0

After the Spartans were able to get two runners aboard, Corynn Miner would single through the right side to put Tampa up by a pair of runs. | Tampa 2-0

Bottom 3^rd

After a two out double by Alexa Russo, Lexie Chevalier would double to left field to score Russo. | Tampa 3-0

Top 5^th

Rollins adds another run to cut the lead to one. | Tampa 3-2

Bottom 6^th

Lexie Chevalier would score to increase the Spartans lead after a Savannah Miller single to right field. The Spartans would then tack on another two runs as Lauren Fantone would double to right field to knock in Abigail Siegel and Fantone would later score after a Lilly Kiester single. | Tampa 6-2
