Spartans Dancing into NCAA South Regional as Two Seed, Set to Host South Regional

INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA Division II Softball Committee has selected the 64 teams participating in the 2022 NCAA Division II Softball Championship. Four teams will participate at each of the 16 regional sites in double-elimination tournaments, held May 12-14. Winners will advance to the super regionals, slated for May 19-20. The finals will be held May 26-31 at the Assembly Athletic Complex in Denver and will be hosted by the Metropolitan State University of Denver.

The University of Tampa secured its spot in the 2022 NCAA DII postseason, earning the two seed in the South 2 Region bracket, and will play host to their pod to open the tournament. Joining the Spartans in the South 2 Region bracket is No. 3 Valdosta State and No. 6 Rollins. The Spartans will face familiar foes and SSC opponent, the No. 7 seed Embry-Riddle Eagles, on Thursday (May 12) at noon.

The Spartans defeated each opponent twice in their bracket this season. The Spartans defeated the Valdosta State Blazers in a twinbill early in the season and claimed two out of three from the Embry-Riddle Eagles and Rollins Tars.

The South 1 Region bracket is home to the top seed and the other opening-round host for the South Region, Auburn University at Montgomery, No. 4 Nova Southeastern, No. 5 Alabama Huntsville, and No. 8 Tuskegee.

- Game 4: Loser of Game 1 vs. Loser of Game 2, 3:00 pm.

Saturday, May 14

- Game 6: Winner of Game 3 vs. Winner of Game 5, 1:00 pm.
