HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st Quarter | Barry started the game off scoring 11 consecutive points. Tampa finally got on the board after a shot beyond the arc by sophomore Rachel Warden. The Spartans were able to bounce back from their 11-point deficit ending the quarter trailing the Buccaneers 15-10.
2nd Quarter | Barry was on the board first with a layup, but Tampa quickly retaliated with a layup of their own by senior Karma Jeremie. Jeremie then continued to make three more baskets making the score 17-16 Barry. At the end of the half, Jeremie led in points with 12 while Warden, Jeremie, and Molly Franson all had four rebounds each. Heading into the locker room, the Buccaneers and Spartans are tied 27-27.
3rd Quarter | The Spartans came out hot as they took the lead for the first time this game after a jumper by Franson 15 seconds into the second half. UT was unable to hold on to the lead as the Buccaneers then went on a 14-point run. At the end of the third, Tampa trails Barry 48-40.
4th Quarter | Tampa was the first to score in the fourth with a jumper by Staja Tyghter followed by another jumper by Warden. The Buccaneers maintained the lead for the rest of the game defeating the Spartans 66-56. Jeremie played a vital role offensively notching 18 points.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Karma Jeremie was the highest leading point scorer with 18 points and one assist.
- Rachel Warden was the second highest leading point scorer with 10 points and four assists.
- Jeremie and Warden led the team defensively with six rebounds each.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- This marks Tampa's first home loss of the year making their record 8-2.
