Spartans Fall to Eagles on Senior Day
Embry Riddle defeats Tampa 69-60.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st Half | The Eagles started the game with a shot beyond the arc, but the Spartans followed with a jumper of their own by Staja Tyghter. Embry Riddle then went on a seven-point streak to give the Eagles a steady lead. By the end of the first quarter, Tampa was able to make it an eight-point game trailing 18-10. Senior Faith Sanders was first to score for UT in the second with a lay-up followed by a free throw. The Spartans were unable to take the lead ending the half behind the Eagles 38-18. Tyghter led the offense with seven points while Senior Karma Jeremie led the defense recording six rebounds.
2nd Half | The Spartans came out of the locker room hot as they were first on the board with a jumper by Emily Eshoo. UT had a spark on offense as they went on to make three consecutive layups with two by Tyghter and one by Jeremie. At the end of the third, Tampa trailed Embry Riddle 51-34. With five minutes remaining of the competition, Jeremie made it an eight-point game after finishing two back-to-back layups. In the end, the Spartans could not hang on falling to the Eagles 69-60. Tyghter led offensively with 18 points, while Jeremie led defensively with 11 rebounds.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Tyghter led the offense with 18 points.
- Jeremie took charge on defense recording 11 rebounds, in addition to her 14 points and six assists.
- Tampa totaled 14 assists compared to Embry Riddle's 12.
BEYOND THE BOX:
- Tampa has five seniors graduating: Sanders, Jeremie, Griffin Dempsey, Morgan Lumb, and Molly Franson.
