Spartans Drop Close Battle with Bucs
The University of Tampa women's basketball team traveled to Miami to take on Barry University and fell in a close battle, 59-58.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st Half | The Spartans jumped out to a quick start after Staja Tyghter and Emily Eshoo made back to back jump shots. The Bucs quickly tied the competition after an offensive run of their own. Barry continued the offensive bout and carried their lead into the second quarter. Molly Franson led with four points in the first quarter. The Spartans came within two points of the Bucs after Karma Jeremie made a layup making the score 22-20. The Bucs and the Spartans continued to trade points and ties through the remainder of the first half, heading into halftime with the score 31-29 Bucs in the lead.
2nd Half | The Spartans took their largest lead of the game coming out of halftime after Tyghter recorded a steal and a jump shot to follow. After trading points and leads through the entirety of the third and fourth quarters, the Bucs went on to win the close battle 59-58.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Tyghter was the leading point scorer for the Spartans with 16 points.
- Eshoo was the second leading point scorer with 12 points.
BEYOND THE BOX:
- Tonights competition ended regular season play for the Spartans with a record of 17-10 and 10-10 in the Sunshine State Conference.
