Spartans Score Season High in Victory Over Rollins
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa women's basketball team cruised to victory as five players scored in double-figures.

All-Time Series: Rollins leads Tampa 56-48 in the all-time series despite the loss. The Spartans have won six of the last 10 matchups.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st Quarter | Both teams came out playing great defense and limiting their mistakes with both teams combining for only two turnovers. Tampa made their presence in the paint known as bigs Dori Nagy and LaShayla Wright-Ponder combined for 11 points. But Rollins kept the game close as Asia Newsome led the Tars with five points. || Tampa 19, Rollins 12
2nd Quarter | The Spartans came out hot in the 2nd quarter, starting on an 18-4 run and extending their lead to 37-16. Spartans guard Julia Ingram scored six points, including a spectacular and-1 3-pointer. Tars guard Jaylyn Harrison scored seven of the teams 13 points in the quarter. Nagy continued to dominate the paint on both ends as she recorded an impressive stat-line of 11 points and 11 rebounds in the 1st half. || Tampa 42, Rollins 25
3rd Quarter | The Spartans continued to dominate in every aspect, outscoring the Tars 26-14 in the quarter. Wright-Ponder controlled the rebounds and ended the quarter with 10 points and 10 rebounds in the game. The Tars struggled to score and shot a rough 23% from the field in the quarter. || Tampa 68, Rollins 39
4th Quarter | Despite the large deficit, the Tars continued to fight and outscored the Spartans 21-17. But that was not near enough for the Tars as the Spartans held on for the win. || Tampa 85, Rollins 60
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Melijah Sullivan led the way with 18 points on a perfect 7-7 shooting.
- Dori Nagy and LaShayla Wright-Ponder each record their third double-doubles.
- Aubrey Clapsaddle and Terri Battle scored their first points as Spartans.
- Aliyah Abney scores a season-high 14 points off the bench.
- The Spartans shot a season-high 56.3% from the field as a team.
BEYOND THE BOX:
- 85 points are the most the Spartans have scored since November 18, 2018.
