Mya Giusto Earns SSC Player of the Week Laurels

MELBOURNE, Fla. - University of Tampa women's basketball player Mya Giusto has been announced as the recipient of Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week honors, as announced Monday by the league office.

Giusto is selected Player of the Week after leading Tampa to a 2-1 record at the 2023 CCA Tip-Off at the Trailhead Tournament in Billings, Montana. The guard from Naples, Florida, had at least 13 points and seven rebounds in each game. She led the Spartans to wins over Minot State (63-57) and Texas A&M - Kingsville (60-58) and was the team's leading scorer and rebounder in a loss to Gannon (68-56). Giusto totaled 43 points by shooting 56% from the field (15-27), 40% from behind the arc (4-10), and 75% from the free-throw line (9-12). She averaged 14.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 39 minutes per game.

Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of October 30 - November 5, 2023. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.
