Freshmen Gain Valuable Experience as UT Ends Season at SSC Tourney
The Spartan lineup included a total of four freshmen and one junior.
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The University of Tampa women's golf team played to a ninth place finish at the 2017 Sunshine State Conference Championships to conclude their season.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
UT Finish: 9th, 992 strokes, +128 (328-340-324)
Team Champion: Nova Southeastern, 888 strokes

• Sofia Cadavid | 38th overall, 243
• Kiira Riihijarvi | 40th overall, 247
• Jess Wild | 41st overall, 252
• Katelin Lawson | 42nd overall, 253
• Kensi Olson | 45th, 257
OTHER NOTABLES:
• Cadavid led all UT golfers for the second time in the 2016-17 season. The other came in October at the Saint Leo Invitational.
• Cadavid registered the top overall round with a 79 in Monday's round. Her and Riihijarvi each registered an 80 in Tuesday's final round.
• Tampa did not register any individual competitors.
• UT's top two golfers were each freshman as Wild, a junior, was the lone non-freshman in head coach Missey Jones lineup.
• Barry's Charlotte Puts was the medalist with a final score of 216.
• A total of 10 teams competed.
• Tampa finished 86 strokes ahead of 10th-place finisher Eckerd College.
