UT Welcomes the No. 19 NYIT Bears
Tampa women's lacrosse looks to take down another top-ranked opponent in the No. 19 NYIT Bears.
TAMPA, Fla. – The No. 15 University of Tampa women's lacrosse team is set to host the No. 19 NYIT Bears on Tuesday, March 20th at 7:30 p.m.
The Matchup: University of Tampa (7-2, 1-0 SSC) vs. NYIT (4-2, 1-0 ECAC)

Last Time Out: The Spartans took down the No. 23 McKendree University Bearcats by a final score of 17-14. Freshman Kayla Kosubinsky powered the Spartans offense scoring five goals. Following her efforts, was senior Amanda Rom who stated two goals and two assists, as well as junior Rachel Crawford who recorded two goals and one assist. On defense, sophomore Alexa Scudillo led the way with four caused turnovers and five ground balls for the Spartans. Additionally, Caroline Forester had two caused turnovers and two ground balls for UT. Also, in the top-25 matchup, Claire Swanson led Tampa with five draw control wins, followed by Allie Popelar with four. In the cage, both Bridget Sutter and Taylor Sisk logged time for the Spartans, Sutter recording four saves, Sisk logging two.
About the Spartans: Tampa is currently 7-2 overall, 1-0 in the Sunshine State Conference. To start the 2018 season, the Spartans played three top-ranked opponents. In their very first game of the season, they were able to defeat the No. 11 ranked Rollins College Tars 10-6. The Spartans then took on No. 13 Limestone College, and No. 7 Queens University. Although they lost both of these matchups, the games were close and the team has been perfect since. Due to the team's outstanding performance thus far this season, the Spartans have Snagged the No. 15 rank according to the USILA Coaches Poll. This is the highest ranking the Spartans have received in program history.
About the Bears: The Bears are currently 4-2 overall, 1-0 in the Eastern College Atlantic Conference. The biggest offensive threats for the Bears are #6 Alyssa Milano and #10 Karie Znaniecki. This season, Milano has 128 goals, eight assists, 34 draw control wins, four caused turnovers and seven ground balls for the Bears. Znanicki sits with 21 goals, 21 assists, two caused turnovers and 10 ground balls. Defensively, the bears are led by #18 Kelly McQuail who has 12 caused turnovers, and 13 ground balls for NYIT. NYIT's primary goalkeeper is #29 Ashley Miller who has logged 38 saves this season and has a goals-against average of 9.73.
Series History (Women's): This is the first time that the University of Tampa Spartans has faced the NYIT Bears in women's lacrosse.
Tickets: Tickets for are $5 for adults, senior citizens and coaches. Children under 12 will be admitted free. UT students, faculty and staff will be admitted free with a valid student ID.
