Spartans Sweep Women's Lacrosse SSC Player of the Week Honors
After going 2-0 last week, Crawford and Scudillo earn SSC honors.
TAMPA, Fla.- The Sunshine State Conference announced its women's lacrosse players of the week winners, tabbing University of Tampa attacker Rachel Crawford as the Offensive Player of the Week, and defender Alexa Scudillo as the Defensive Player of the Week. This is the first time this season that Crawford and Scudillo have earned Player of the Week recognition for the Spartans.
Crawford earns Offensive Player of the Week accolades for her play in two conference games. Against Saint Leo University, Crawford netted a goal and had two assists in addition to picking up two ground balls. Then on Saturday against the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Crawford broke program records for the most points scored in a single game (10) as well as the most assists scored in a single game (7). Tampa ended the week 2-0, defeating the Lions on Wednesday by a final score of 12-6, and then taking down the Eagles, Saturday by a final score of 23-8.
Scudillo led Tampa's defense across two SSC wins this week, beating the Saint Leo University (12-6) and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (23-8). Scudillo caused two turnovers against the Lions and four against the Eagles. Also, against Embry-Riddle, Scudillo picked up five ground balls and won three draw controls for the Spartans.
Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of April 16 - April 22, 2018. Athletes are nominated by Sports Information Directors of member institutions.
