Howell and Waters Earn SSC POTW Recognition

TAMPA, Fla. - Both Peyton Howell and Lexi Waters have been named as the SSC Players of the Week. 

 

Howell was the leading scorer in Tampa's wins over No. 23 Mercy (16-3) and No. 8 Pace (17-8). The Towson, Maryland native totaled seven points off six goals and an assist in the win against Mercy. Howell then totaled six points from five goals and an assist versus Pace. She also provided the Spartans with four ground balls across the wins. Her 11 goals came off 20 shots, 15 of which were on goal.

 

Waters was instrumental in Tampa's defense holding No. 23 Mercy and No. 8 Pace to eight and seven goals below their season scoring averages, respectively. The Smithtown, New York senior led all players with eight draw controls in the win over Mercy (16-3). She also grabbed six ground balls and three caused turnovers in the win. Waters followed with a game-high eight draw controls in the victory against Pace (17-8). She also provided the Spartans with three ground balls and a caused turnover. The weekly award is the second of her career.
