Rowing Opens Spring Season at Duel in the Swamp

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The University of Tampa rowing team opened its spring season at the Duel in the Swamp, which was hosted by the University of Florida.

 

The Women's Novice 8+ (WN8+) finished second of six boats with a time of 7:32.8. From stern to bow the rowers were Liv Nikopoulos, Kayla Bell, Sienna Gutierrez, Savannah Martin, Lauren Blake, Sam Volkens, Katie Sturmer, Grace McGhee and coxswain Jessica Barone.

 

The Women's Varsity 4+ finished fifth of six with a time of 8:20.9. From stern to bow the rowers were Bridget Maxwell, Kiara Williams, Abbey Grau, Samantha Stewart and coxswain Erin Winslow.

 

The Women's Lightweight Varsity 4+ finished fourth of seven with a time of 8:05.9. UF Lightwight Varsity 4+ edged the Spartans for third with a time of 8:05.1 at just 0.8 seconds faster. From stern to bow the rowers were Sarah Manno, Marissa Henderson, Brooke Rogers, Cassie Bricker and coxswain Maxie-Lew Dunn.

 

The Spartans will return to action on Sunday, March 3 at the University of South Florida Spring Race.
