Tampa Falls in Defensive Battle With Florida Tech
MELBOURNE, Fla. - The No. 16 University of Tampa (4-2) women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss at Florida Tech (4-1) on Wednesday afternoon.
Scoreless for 67 minutes, Tech's Erika Forsberg tapped in the lone goal of the contest at 67:13 following a Carly Hunt shot that hit the Tampa crossbar.
Tampa finished with seven shots, including four on goal as Lauren Moore and Shannon Walisch each logged two shots apiece with both of Walisch's on target. The Panthers finished with six shots, four on goal. UT also held a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Kori Butterfield finished with three saves for Tampa, playing the entire contest in goal.
The Spartans will return home to host Eckerd College on Saturday in its Sunshine State Conference opener. The match is slated for 8 p.m., at Pepin Stadium, following the men's game between the Tritons and Spartans.
