BOCA RATON, Fla. - The No. 14 University of Tampa (8-2, 3-0 SSC) women's soccer team picked up its fourth straight victory with a 3-0 triumph at Sunshine State Conference opponent Lynn University (2-5-1, 2-2 SSC).
Freshman Katherine Marting found the back of the Lynn net in the sixth minute off a Courtney Peffley corner kick, going down as the eventual game-winner.
Following the assist, Peffley would register the second goal of the contest for the Spartans in the 53rd minute. The goal by the senior was assisted by leading scorer Lauren Moore. The third goal for UT came on an own goal at the 84:14 mark.
Kori Butterfield recorded her third shutout of the season as the sophomore finished with two saves. UT outshot the Fighting Knights 22-5 on the game, including a 9-2 edge in shots on goal.
The Spartans return home to host SSC opponent Rollins College on Saturday. The match is slated for 5 p.m., at Pepin Stadium. UT will offer live stats and a webcast through TampaSpartans.tv.
