Spartan Duo Named USCA All-South Region
The two Spartans were named to the third team after UT finished the season in the SSC Tournament Championship game
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - As announced earlier today, two women's soccer players were recognized by the United Soccer Coaches Association as All-South Region team members. Both Miranda Gonzalez and Nastasia Asgedom were named to the third team after helping Tampa finish the season on a strong note, making a run in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament to the Championship game.
Miranda Gonzalez, a senior, started in all 18 games for the Spartans this past season. Gonzalez scored her only goal of the season in a 1-0 victory at Florida Tech. Late in the season, the senior had to play a variety of roles for the team, moving up from her starting role of center back into the midfield to help the offense. Nastasia Asgedom, a junior, appeared in nine games for UT this past season. Asgedom scored three goals on the year and added two assists. In the third game of the season, Asgedom helped the Spartans snap Wingate's 24 games home unbeaten streak.
