MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference releases weekly awards for stand out players within the conference. For the week of August 27-September 2, the No. 24 University of Tampa's Moeko Morse has been tabbed the women's soccer "Offensive Player of the Week".
Morse provided Tampa with all the offensive production it needed to get a win over No. 18 Mississippi College. The freshman forward from Chesapeake, Virginia scored the game's equalizer in the 37th minute off an assist from Elena Barr and Lacy Nasello. She then knocked in the game-winner in the 48th minute and added insurance in the 83rd. With the play of Morse, UT opens up the season with a 1-0-1 record.
The Japanese native has an impressive track record when it comes to scoring goals, as Morse owns the record for most goals scored in a season (32) at Grassfield High School. She was named first team all-conference, along with being named the 2017 District Player of the Year.
