Spartans Set to Host SSC Rival Florida Southern

TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa women's soccer team is set for a mid-week Sunshine State Conference showdown with Florida Southern College as the Spartans look to remain in the lead pack of the SSC standings.
The Matchup: University of Tampa Spartans (3-5, 3-1 SSC) vs. Florida Southern Mocs (3-5-1, 0-3 SSC)

About the Spartans: Tampa is coming off of an impressive 1-0 shutout in front of the home crowd on Saturday vs. Palm Beach Atlantic. Goalkeeper Megan Bromwell recorded a clean sheet in the contest with six saves. Ashley Loeza tallied the game-winner for the Spartans in the 61st minute. The victory was Tampa's third shutout in the last four games. Tampa has played very well against SSC opponents this season with a 5-2 goal advantage against SSC opponents. Four different Spartans have two goals on the season. Sophomore forward Moeko Morse leads UT in goals, assists, points, shots, and shots on goal.
About the Mocs: Florida Southern has gone winless in their last five and has a record of 1-5-1 in their last seven matches. Most recently, the Mocs drew at Lynn University last Saturday, October 5th. The 0-0 draw was the fourth shutout by goalkeeper Jenny Staten, who has an impressive 1.05 goals against average. The offense has struggled for head coach Paul Lawrence's side, as the Mocs have scored only 5 goals in 9 contests, being shutout on 5 occasions as well. Florida Southern has played many close games this season including six one-goal games. In one-goal games, the Mocs have a record of 2-4. The Mocs went 5-10-1 (3-7 SSC) a season ago.
All-Time Series: The Spartans have dominated the all-time series against the Mocs with a 20-6-2 record, including a 7-2-1 record in the last ten games between the two teams. Last time Tampa faced Florida Southern UT won 3-2 in Lakeland (September, 29, 2018). All of the last seven matches between the two sides have been decided by 1 goal or less.
