Tampa Storms Past Florida A&M
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams each took decisive victories over Florida A&M University on Friday at UT. The Spartan men won 124-54 as the women posted a 111-57 victory.
UT won 19 of the 28 events in the meet as it also took the top three places in 18 races.
The Spartan women began the meet with a victory in the 200 Medley Relay from Emilee Margiotta, Madaleine Clark, Hannah Hudson and Dayna Peden.
Tampa also picked up first-place performances from Jillian Palmer (1,000 Free), Ellie Eshleman (200 Free), Lindsay Calimer (50 Back), Amy O'Brien (50 Breast), Julia Busch (100 Fly), Clarke (50 Free), Stephanie Branham (100 Breast) and Jessie Bardin (200 IM).
UT's men won its first race, coming in the 200 Medley Relay from the team of John Proctor, Paul LaPorta, Justin Waterman and Shane Armbrister.
Individual winners for UT in men's races were Patrick Murray (1,000 Free), Armbrister (200 Free), Michael Verdi (50 Back), LaPorta (50 Breast and 200 IM), Waterman (100 Fly), Sherif Ibrahim (50 Free), Murray (100 Free) and Jeff Fiore (500 Free).
The Spartans return to the pool on Saturday in Winter Park as it faces Rollins College. The meet is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
