Tampa Defeats Rollins In Final Home Meet
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams closed out their home season with a pair of victories over Rollins College. The Spartan men were victorious by a 155-82 showing while the women triumphed 146-91.
The Spartan men started competition with a 200 Medley Relay title from Roman Sereda, Paul LaPorta, Daniel Hernandez and Blaine Bess following a time of 1:40.33.
Michael Verdi also won a pair of individual races in the 50 Back (25.60) and 100 Back (54.59). Chris O'Linger was the other UT male to add a pair of win, taking honors in the 50 Free (22.48) and the 100 Breast (1:04.49).
UT also had wins in the 50 Breast from Sereda (27.84), 100 Fly from Hernandez (53.33), 100 Free from LaPorta (48.32) and the 50 Fly from Humphrey (23.92).
On the women's side, the Spartans opened with a 200 Medley Relay medal from Jillian Palmer, Ashley Arzadon, Amy O'Brien and Hilary Stetekluh. The team won with a time of 1:54.91.
Michelle Walcker won two races, including the 50 Breast (33.04) and 100 Breast (1:12.21). The Spartans also had wins from Hannah Hudson in the 200 Free (1:59.07), O'Brien in the 100 Fly (1:01.79) and 50 Fly (27.54) and Palmer in the 50 Free (25.77) and 100 Free (55.03).
The Spartans travel to Indian River College on Saturday for an 11 a.m. contest.
