UT Second Following Day Two At BGMC Meet
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams are each in second place at the 2010 Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championship.
Host school Wingate University leads both venues, though the Spartans trail by just eight points (245-237) in women's action. The Bulldogs own a 279-206 advantage with the men. There are a total of 13 schools competing, including Florida Southern College, Rollins College and Saint Leo University.
Jeff Fiore won the 200 IM for Tampa, notching a time of 1:51.49. UT's Roman Sereda followed with a second place performance in the same race.
Tampa's women captured the 400 Medley Relay championship as the team of Ellie Eshleman, Kelsey Lubbers, Lindsay Calimer and Jessie Bardin outpaced its competition while finishing in a time of 3:52.88.
Amy O'Brien also finished second in the 50 Free with a time of 23.70.
Competition continues through Saturday at the BGMC Championships as the UT women are looking to repeat as conference champions.
