Spartan Women Move Atop Leaderboard Heading To Final Day Of Championships
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The University of Tampa women's swimming team moved into first place in their quest to repeat as Bluegrass Mountain Conference champions. The Spartan men also remain in competition and are in second place.
While moving up a spot in the standings, UT's women now hold a 495 to 371 advantage over host Wingate University. The Spartan men trail Wingate by a 446-410 mark.
Kelsey Lubbers helped the Spartan cause by championing the 400 IM. The junior registered a time of 4:28.74. Calimer also won the 100 Fly in 56.47 as Jessie Bardin captured the 200 Free title with a time of 1:53.25. Eshleman also enjoyed individual success in the 100 Back, winning in 57.62.
Jeff Fiore continued his success for Tampa's men as he won the 200 Free. His winning time was clocked at 1:40.00.
The UT women's 200 Medley Relay team of Ellie Eshleman, Michelle Walcker, Lindsay Calimer and Amy O'Brien started the day with a first-place finish. The group finished with a time of 1:45.65.
Competition continues through Saturday at the BGMC Championships.
