UT Finishes Season Among Top Teams At NCAA Championships
SAN ANTONIO - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams both completed the 2011 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships, with the UT women finishing 13th and the men 15th. Drury won both the men's and women's team titles.
UT placed seventh in the 200 Medley Relay as Ellie Eshleman, Michelle Walcker, Lindsay Calimer and Amy O'Brien finished in 1:44.62. Tampa was also seventh in the 800 Free Relay behind efforts by Eshleman, Heather Glenday, Kelsey Lubbers and Alex Hipolito in a 7:37.73 showing.
Glenday also has a pair of All-America performances, finishing fourth in the 1,000 Free (10:08.92) and fourth in the 1,650 Free (17:04.38). Calimer also placed seventh in the 100 Fly (55.89).
O'Linger became an All-American in three individual events, including a third place finish in the 1,000 Free (9:06.26), eighth place showing in the 400 IM (3:59.16) and seventh in the 1,650 Free (15:35.16).
Tampa's men also finished fifth in the 400 Free Relay with a time of 3:02.42.
The Spartans complete a 2010-11 season where its women captured the inaugural Sunshine State Conference championship while winning nine meets. UT's men also turned in five first-place finishes in team competitions.
