UT Alum Alex Hetland Earns Swimming Gold at World Championships

PHOENIX, Ariz. - University of Tampa swimming alum and Norway native Alex Hetland captured the short course world championship title in the 50 Breast on Sunday in Turkey.
The Tampa graduate was clocked at 26:30 as he had previously captured a bronze at the 2010 short course and also participated in the 2008 Olympics.
Hetland starred for the Spartans in 2008-09 as he was the last Spartan national champion, capturing the title in both the 200 IM and 100 Breast. Both victories also represented an NCAA record for the All-American.
