Heather Glenday Opens NCAA Championships With Record Performance
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams were in action in day one of the 2013 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships, with Heather Glenday entering the record books once again.
Glenday became an All-American for the third straight season as the junior set a new school record in the 1,000 Free with a 10:00.00 timing in the prelims.
Glenday then finished fourth in 1,000 Free finals with a showing of 10:13.88. She became the first UT All-American of the 2013 championships as top-eight finishers earn the honor.
Alex Hipolito finished 10th in the 200 IM for the Spartan women, being clocked at 2:05.78.
The Tampa women competed in the 200 Medley Relay, and finished second in the consolation finals with a time of 1:45.58. UT's men also swam, placing fourth in the consolation at 1:29.67.
Thursday's action will begin at 10 a.m., with the prelims, followed by the finals at 5:30 p.m.
On tap for Thursday is the 200 Free Relay, 400 IM, 100 Fly, 200 Free and 400 Medley Relay.
