Sharks Jet Past Spartans on the Road
Tampa was unable to catch the swift-swimming Nova Southeastern program, falling 162-100 on the women's side while the men lost by a 169-93 score.
FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Continuing its season on the road, the University of Tampa men's and women's swim team both fell to host and Sunshine State Conference powerhouse Nova Southeastern University on Saturday at the NSU Swim Complex.
The men's team dropped a 169-93 meet to the Sharks while the women's squad was defeated by a final tally of 162-100.
Spartan sprinters Marisa Barton and Khalid Aldaboos each won their respective 50 freestyle event as Barton finished first on the women's side with a 24.04 time. Aldaboos touched the wall at the 20.85 second mark to claim the men's 50 free.
Tampa dominated the men's sprint as the top-three finishers were Spartans. Following Aldaboos were Martin Hammer and Jeremy Parker, as both finished at the 20.96 second mark.
Women's swimmer Victoria Horsman recorded a top finish in the 100 yard butterfly, touching the wall in 59.05 seconds for first place in the event.
Tampa's final first-place event game in the last of the day, as the corps of Runar Borgen, Jordan Augier, Hammer and Parker combined for a 1:21.65 finish in the 200 freestyle relay. Parker recorded a 19.91 time for his leg of the race to anchor the relay victory.
The Spartans will return to action on Dec. 5, taking on Rollins College in a road meet scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start time.
