Tampa Swimmers Conclude SSC Championships With Several Records
UT establishes seven new school records in four-day meet.
CLEARWATER, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams established several new school records at the 2018 Sunshine State Conference Championships. Overall, the Spartans set seven new records, and notched additional NCAA qualifying times.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Men's Standings: Tampa, 4th, 548 points

RECORD PERFORMANCES:
- The Spartans set a school record in the 200 Medley Relay on day one with a time of 1:42.32 from Katie Bayes, McKenzie Street, Molly O'Hara and Megan Waddell.
- Tampa also set a school-best in the 200 Free Relay as Waddell, Gabbie Gauntt, K. Bayes and O'Hara finished in 1:32.17.
- O'Hara also notched a school record on Friday in the 100 Fly with a time of 54.86.
- Cameron Newton notched a 200 Free showing of 1:37.53 to move atop the UT records book.
- UT's women set the fifth school record through two days with a 3:46.41 in the 400 Medley Relay from Hana van Loock, Street, Sophie Long and Gaunt.
- The 800 Free Relay team of Long, Gauntt, Brittany Bayes and K. Bayes set a school record after finishing in 7:22.83.
- van Loock continued her excellent showing with a school record in the 100 Free in the final day. The freshman was clocked at 49.85.

UP NEXT:
With the SSC Championships complete, Tampa will send swimmers to the 2018 NCAA Division II Swimming &Diving Championships, which is scheduled for March 14-17 in Greensboro, N.C.
ABOUT THE SSC CHAMPIONSHIPS:
The Sunshine State Conference Men's and Women's Swimming Championships enters its eighth year. Rollins College is set to host the 2018 event, which will be held at the Long Center in Clearwater. Dates for the championship are Thursday, February 22nd - Sunday, February 25th. The event returns to the Long Center after four straight years at the YMCA Aquatic Center in Orlando. Previously, the SSC championship was held at the Long Center in 2012 and 2013.
NCAA POSTSEASON:
Individual qualifiers to the NCAA championship will be determined by "A" and "B" standards. NCAA Championships take place Wednesday, March 14th - Saturday, March 17th at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina. Wingate University and the Greensboro Sports Commission are co-hosts for the championship. All championship competitors will be announced by the NCAA on Tuesday, February 27th, here
