Spartans Register Four All-Americans in Successful Day Two at NCAAs
UT women 13th, men 24th at mid-way point of championships.
GREENSBORO, N.C. - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams enjoyed success at day two of the 2018 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships, with both moving up in the standings from day one.
The Spartan women concluded the day at No. 13 with 55 points, while the men sit at No. 24 with 13 points.
UT Men's Highlights
- Brett Saunders won the consolation in the 400 IM with a time of 3:51.90.
- In the 200 Free, Cameron Newton was clocked at 1:38.26 to finish 13th overall. Teammate Daniel Jacob was 33rd at 1:40.14.
UT Women's Highlights
- UT had its first All-Americans as the 200 Free Relay team of Hana van Loock, Megan Waddell, Katie Bayes and Molly O'Hara with a time of 1:32.35 to finish fourth overall.
- O'Hara was 13th overall in the 100 Fly at 55.87.
- In the 100 Fly, McKenzie Street was 21st with a time of 55.83.
- van Loock was 20th in the 200 Free after finishing in 1:51.21. K. Bayes was 37th in the event at 1:53.07 while Gabbie Gauntt was 40th at 1:53.27. Jessie Tobin also swam, finishing 48th with a time of 1:54.98.
- The 400 Medley Relay resulted in a second place consolation performance from K. Bayes, Street, O'Hara and van Loock. They finished in 3:44.48.
