Spartan Women Fifth in Nation as Men Rise Six Spots
UT looks to continue 2018-19 success with weekend matchup with Saint Leo
CLEVELAND - Both University of Tampa swimming teams appear in the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) poll. The organization has released its second Top 25 Dual Meet Swimming and Diving Poll of the 2018-19 season.
UT's women remain fifth in the nation, while the men are 12th nationally after coming in at No. 18 in the preseason poll.
The Indianapolis men and UC San Diego women claimed the number one spot. On the men's side, fellow Sunshine State Conference opponents Saint Leo (8), Florida Southern (10), Nova Southeastern (16) and Florida Tech (20) are also ranked. Women's opponents in the top-25 include Nova Southeastern (7) and Saint Leo (22).
In women's action, UT has dismantled Rollins (196-66), then-No. 3 Nova Southeastern (159-103) and then-No. 17 Florida Southern (171-84). The Spartan men have wins over Rollins (181-81) and then-No.12 Nova Southeastern (157-105) and a loss to then-No. 7 Florida Southern (148-114).
Tampa hosts Saint Leo this weekend on both Saturday and Sunday at the UT Aquatics Center. Action will begin on both days at 11 a.m.
The poll aims to measure the top teams in head-to-head competition. The rankings are voted on by CSCAA-member coaches and the next polls are scheduled for release on January 9, January 30, and February 27.
