UT Swimming Concludes Day One of Shark Invite

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams south for the first session of their last meet of the regular season, the 2021 Shark Invitational on Friday.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

Men's Score (after session one): NSU Sharks 214, Tampa Spartans 158

Women's Score (after session one): Tampa Spartans 268, NSU Sharks 157

Location: NSU Aquatics Center | Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The session totaled 6 events, including three for the men and three for the women.

TOP PERFORMERS (MEN):

Ian Morgan won the Men's 1,000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 9:29.38.
The Men's 200 Freestyle Relay made up of Angelo Russo, Youssef Khowessah, Yigit Saglam, Yannick Smith placed second with a time of 1:29.32.

TOP PERFORMERS (WOMEN):

Courtney Sherwood placed first in the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:03.36.
The Spartans swept the 1,000 Yard Freestyle. Jessie Tobin took first place with a time of 10:12.53. Lindsey Grater placed second finishing at 10:14.20. Alexa Turco placed third, registering a time of 10:28.60.
The 200 Medley Relay with Madysen Barnes, Elizaveta Bazarova, Katie Horan, and Hana van Loock placed second with a time of 1:43.17.

UP NEXT:

The Spartans will be back in action tomorrow for the next two sessions of the meet. The morning session begins at 10:00 am and features a trio of freestyle events (50 Free, 500 Free, 200 Free Relay). The evening session begins at 5:00 pm will feature the 400 IM, 100 Fly, 200 Free, and 400 Medley Relay. Fans can watch live on TampaSpartans.tv and view results on the MeetMobile App.
