Tampa Falls to Florida Tech in SSC Play
Melbourne, Fla. - The 28th ranked University of Tampa team dropped its second match of the season, and its first in conference play, with a 4-5 loss on the road against Florida Tech. The loss puts the Spartans at 0-2 overall and 0-1 in Sunshine State Conference play on the season, and gives the Panthers their first win of the campaign.
The Spartans won three of their single matches and one of their double matches. Emily Kennedy shut out her opponent with an impressive 6-0, 6-0 match. The dynamic duo of Kennedy and Caitlin Scudder gave the team their only doubles win with an 8-0 victory. With the win, Scudder and Kennedy are 2-0 for the season.
Tampa is on the road again for its next match as it travels to Lakeland on Wednesday to play Florida Southern. Play is set to begin at 3 pm.
