Tampa Claims Win Over West Alabama
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa Spartans defeated the Tigers of the University of West Alabama by a score of 5-4. The victory puts the Spartans at 7-10 for the season as the Tigers drop to a record of 9-6.
The Spartans dominated the singles matches by winning four of the six matches. Kourtney Stark began to shift the momentum for the Spartans as she recorded the first win in singles play with a score of 7-6 (2), 6-3. The Spartans, who followed in Starks' path were Caitlin Scudder with a win of 6-1, 6-0; Emily Kennedy with a 6-0, 6-4 win; and Ally Wooten claimed a 6-1, 6-2 victory. Wooten and Garyn claimed the lone win of 8-4 in doubles play.
The Spartans are back in action Saturday as they take on West Virginia State. Competition is set to start at 10:30 a.m.
