Spartans Blank FSC-Jacksonville on Senior Day
TAMPA, Fla. - Playing its final home match of the 2014 season, the No. 23 University of Tampa (10-7) tennis team made easy work of Florida State College at Jacksonville (5-13) with a 9-0 victory at the Naimoli & Young Family Tennis Complex.
All three doubles contests resulted in an 8-2 Tampa victory, with the top team of Lauren Hewett and Meg Wladimirski leading the way. The two-team of Thashia Garcia and Viviana Tedino were joined by the three-team of Kelsey Matthews and Katherine Pyne in the victory column.
All six singles matches were straight-set Spartan victories as Garcia, Wladimirski, Hewett, Matthews, Tedino and Pyne made quick work of their opponents.
Prior to the match, UT recognized four players who competed at home for the final time, including Hewett, Garcia, Wladimirski and Pyne.
With the home season now complete, the Spartans will turn their attention to a pair of matches before SSC tournament play. UT will be at Eckerd on Friday at 3 p.m., in its final regular-season league contest.
