UT narrowly falls in SSC contest.
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa tennis team returned to Sunshine State Conference play and fell to provisional member Palm Beach Atlantic University in a 5-4 decision.

- The Sailfish took two of three doubles matches, as the PBA wins came by scores of 9-7 and a 9-8 tie-break win.
- Tampa's two doubles duo of Maddie Stephens and freshman Lilley Nice gave the Spartans a win, defeating their PBA opponent by a score of 8-4.
- Singles action results in three wins apiece, clinching the victory for the visiting Sailfish.
- Nice won at three singles, defeating her opponent 6-3, 6-7 (7-3), 6-1.
- Stephens took the number-four event by scores of 6-3, 6-2.
- Freshman Ava Sowell remained perfect on the season in singles with a 6-1, 6-1 straight set sweep.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Sowell and Stephens are both a perfect 6-0 in singles action in regular-season action.
- UT has a pair of wins over nationally-ranked opponents in 2017, topping No. 8 Nova Southeastern and No. 36 Embry-Riddle.
UP NEXT: Tampa heads to Lakeland to meet SSC opponent and No. 33 Florida Southern College on Thursday at 3 p.m. The match marks the third of four against nationally-ranked opponents in 2017 for UT.
