UT Takes SSC Victory at Florida Tech
Tampa won both singles and doubles to win match.
MELBOURNE, Fla. – The University of Tampa tennis team claimed a pivotal Sunshine State Conference victory as it traveled to Florida Tech.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Final: Tampa Spartans 6, Florida Tech Panthers 3
Records: Tampa (6-3, 2-2 SSC), Florida Tech (11-3, 1-3 SSC)

- Tampa took two of the three doubles matches to carry a 2-1 lead to singles action.
- Lilley Nice and Maddie Stephens won the two doubles contest by a score of 8-3.
- The second doubles victory came at number three as UT's duo of Ava Sowell and Danielle Beyes emerged with an 8-6 win.
- The Spartans took four of the six singles matches to clinch the victory.
- Caroline Lozo won at number one, topping her opponent by straight set scores of 6-1, 6-2.
- Nice also won in singles, taking a 6-1, 6-1 victory at number three.
- The number four match went to Stephens by scores of 6-1, 6-3.
- Sowell won at five, by scores of 6-1, 6-1.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Nice is a perfect 9-0 in dual match singles play.
- This marks the first SSC match for UT that was not decided by one match.
- With a career record of 22-7, Stephens ranks 14th in school history in singles wins.
- Emily Hewland ranks 11th in UT history with 23 doubles wins.
