Tars Conquer Spartans in Singles Play
Rollins took five of six singles matches to clinch the victory.
WINTER PARK, Fla. – The University of Tampa tennis team fell to No. 27 Rollins College in a road Sunshine State Conference meeting.

- Tampa seized the early momentum, taking all three doubles contests.
- The number-one team of Caroline Lozo and Emily Hewland won by an 8-3 tally.
- Lilley Nice and Maddie Stephens won at two by a score of 8-5.
- At number three, Ava Sowell and Danielle Beyes took an 8-6 victory.
- Rollins took five of the six singles matches.
- UT's lone singles win came from Sowell at number five. She won by scores of 6-3, 6-2.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- This marks the seventh match of the season for Tampa against a ranked opponent.
- Stephens and Sowell lead the way with 12 singles winson the season.
- Stephens also ranks No. 14 in school history with 23 career singles wins.
- Sowell is now 12-3 in singles in her freshman campaign while classmate Nice is 11-5.
- Nice and Stephens are 14-3 from their number two doubles position.
- Beyes and Sowell are 13-2 at three doubles.
- Hewland ranks seventh in program history with 26 doubles victories.
UP NEXT: Tampa closes out the regular season on Tuesday at home versus Eckerd College. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m., at the Naimoli & Young Family Tennis Complex.
