Tampa Wins Third SSC Match in Win Over PBA
Spartans take first-ever SSC meeting between two schools.
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The University of Tampa tennis team picked up a Sunshine State Conference victory in a road contest versus Palm Beach Atlantic University.

Records: Tampa (5-2, 3-2 SSC), Palm Beach Atlantic (3-5, 0-2 SSC)

All-time Series: PBA now leads the all-time series 8-7. Friday's match marked the first meeting between the two schools as Sunshine State Conference opponents.

- The Spartans took all three doubles matches by respective scores of 8-2, 8-3 and 8-5.
- Tampa went on to win four of the six singles matches to clinch the victory.
- The top doubles team included Caroline Lozo and freshman Corbin Dorsey.
- UT's victorious number-two doubles team featured Vanina Iordanova and Maddie Stephens.
- Lilley Nice and Emily Hewland played to a victory at three doubles.
- Lozo was the winner in the number-one match with a third-set victory.
- Iordanova won at number-three singles.
- Winning the four and five contests were Nice and Dorsey.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Tampa is now a combined 21-11 in doubles matches this season.
- Picking up its third SSC victory, UT tied last year's league total for wins and also matches the most SSC wins in a season.
- UT clinched a spot in the 2018 Sunshine State Conference Championships on April 19-21 in Bradenton.
- Lozo and Dorsey are now 5-2 on the season at one doubles while Iordanova and Stephens are 5-2 at the two spot.
