Singles Play Leads Eagles Over Spartans
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The University of Tampa tennis team had its seven-match winning streak snapped on the road against Sunshine State Conference foe Embry Riddle.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Final: Embry-Riddle Eagles 4, Tampa Spartans 3
Records: Embry-Riddle (5-5, 1-3 SSC), Tampa (8-3, 1-2 SSC)
Location: Crotty Tennis Complex | Daytona Beach, Fla.
All-time Series: Embry-Riddle holds a 7-3 edge in the series, though the schools are now tied at 1-1 in SSC contests.

- UT took two of three doubles contests while Embry-Riddle took four of the six singles events to clinch the win.
- In a matchup of the top doubles teams, UT's Caroline Lozo and Dakota Busch prevailed 7-6 after taking the tiebreak by a score of 7-5.
- The Spartans also took a 6-1 victory at two doubles from Corbin Dorsey and Maddie Stephens.
- Stephens and Lozo took the four and five singles events for Tampa.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Stephens is now fourth all-time with 40 career singles victories. Next on the list is Kelsey Matthews with 45 wins.
- Lilley Nice is also in the top-10 with 35 career singles victories.
- Stephens is third in UT history with 41 doubles wins while Nice is seventh at 33.
