Tennis Honored In Senior Salute
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa Athletic Department would like to celebrate the careers and accomplishments of the tennis team this week. Due to their season getting cut short, we will honor each student-athlete who will not get a normal senior salute at the end of the season.
Tampa tennis will graduate Vanina Iordanova and Lilley Nice this year. These student athletes have shown grit and determination through their time at UT, and their accolades and successes have made an invaluable impact on the program. Forces both on the court and in the classroom, the program and department thank these Seniors.
Iordanova is a graduate student at Tampa pursuing a degree in Finance. Born in Bulgaria, Iordanova attended Xavier University as a freshman. After transferring to UT, she has collected numerous accolades for her performances as an athlete and as a scholar. She has been named an ITA Scholar Athlete, she is a two time member of the SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll, and she has collected two D2 ADA Academic Achievement Awards during her time at Tampa. Iordanova helped lead Tampa to an 8-4 2020 season, individually concluding the season on a four-match singles winning streak. Additionally, both Iordanova and Nice competed for Tampa in 2019, a season which ranks third all time for most season wins in Tampa Records.
Nice will be graduating from the University of Tampa with a degree in Political Science. The Woodlands, Texas, native has collected both SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll and Honorable Mention All-Sunshine State Conference Recognition for singles and doubles during her career as a Spartan. As a senior, Nice competed in 23 matches, winning four of her last five matches in singles to close the season. She ranks fourth overall for most singles wins in a career in the Tampa Record Book, as well as being a member of the 2019 team- a year which ranks third in UT Records for most season wins.
The University of Tampa Athletic Department would like to extend congratulations to the tennis Class of 2020 for their impressive careers, academically and athletically. As these women go on to the next chapter of their lives, we wish them all the best, and we thank them for their dedication to the program, the school, and their sport.
Please join the Tampa Spartans as we honor the seniors for each of our spring sports teams. As a result of the cancelation of all spring games and competition, typical senior-honoring events have also been canceled. We will select a different team each week for which we will honor those graduating this year.
