Embry-Riddle Rallies Back to Defeat Spartans

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The University of Tampa tennis team came up short in a Sunshine State Conference meeting with Embry-Riddle University on Saturday afternoon.

Final: Embry-Riddle University Eagles 4, University of Tampa Spartans 3

How it Happened:

  • Tampa earned the doubles point, winning two of the three matches. to grab the lead heading to singles.
  • The lone Embry-Riddle doubles victory came at number two.
  • The Eagles won four-of-six singles events to clinch the victory.
  • The deciding match came in a third-set ERAU victory at number three singles.
  • The Spartans were victorious at number two and six singles, both coming in straight sets.

Outside the Box:

  • The number one doubles duo of Khomchenko and Wilberg have now won three consecutive matches at the top spot. They have won by a combined score of 18-5 during the streak.
  • Williams picked up her second singles victory of the week.
  • Harrelson registered her first singles win of the 2021 campaign.
